The jury highlighted his intense work over the past year, emphasizing the technical strength of his performances, his versatility and artistic ambition, as well as his ability to adapt and contribute to Costa Rica’s musical landscape.
Gutiérrez currently serves as artistic director and principal conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Costa Rica, and has built an international career as a guest conductor with orchestras across the Americas and the United States, in addition to participating in opera productions and music education projects.
The award is part of the National Culture Awards 2025, which annually recognize outstanding contributions to Costa Rica’s cultural development.
